Pelicans Heron Beauty and Friends May 2011

The Pelicans come to Confluence Park in Delta CO for a couple weeks each year. Yesterday we could only find one so we are hoping they haven't already left.
Our friends Dave and Nancy Peterson from Nebraska enjoyed the western slope.
The Blue Heron stood for a second and I caught a picture before he flew away.

Bald Eagle chases Osprey to take fish away

The Osprey dived in the water and caught a fish. He started to fly back to his nest when all of a sudden I seen him come back which surprised me. THEN I seen the Bald Eagle chasing him. The Osprey and Bald Eagle at one point seemed to actually crash into each other but the Osprey hung onto to the fish. Eventually though the Bald Eagle got the best of the Osprey and the Osprey let the fish go. The Bald Eagle didn't catch the fish and it was the fish's lucky day..even though it must've been a wild ride he ended up back in the river. The Osprey went looking for another fish and the Eagle had to find his own dinner.
