The Pelicans come to Confluence Park in Delta CO for a couple weeks each year. Yesterday we could only find one so we are hoping they haven't already left.
Our friends Dave and Nancy Peterson from Nebraska enjoyed the western slope.
The Blue Heron stood for a second and I caught a picture before he flew away.

Bald Eagle chases Osprey to take fish away

The Osprey dived in the water and caught a fish. He started to fly back to his nest when all of a sudden I seen him come back which surprised me. THEN I seen the Bald Eagle chasing him. The Osprey and Bald Eagle at one point seemed to actually crash into each other but the Osprey hung onto to the fish. Eventually though the Bald Eagle got the best of the Osprey and the Osprey let the fish go. The Bald Eagle didn't catch the fish and it was the fish's lucky day..even though it must've been a wild ride he ended up back in the river. The Osprey went looking for another fish and the Eagle had to find his own dinner.

A special gland called the uropygial gland (or the preen gland) is one key physical trait that helps to keep ducks on top of the water. This gland, located at the base of their tail, produces an oil that the ducks spread over their bodies to make their feathers water-repellent. Since duck feathers resist getting saturated with water, the birds weigh less than they would if their feathers absorbed that water. Some people even suggest that without their uropygial gland to render them waterproof, ducks would drown.

Tom and I drove up to The Black Canyon Visitor Center (that's as far as you can go in the winter-unless you walk or snowshoe). Today was a beautiful winter day for photos. There was a haze over the mountains. I don't know why that happens..I'll have to ask my weathermen friends. So, anyway here are a few photos..

Feeling guilty or ashamed about the past - about what we did or did not do, about what happened to us, about who we were - can be our undoing. We must work long and hard in our recovery to work through these feelings, not to forget the past - for it informs all that we value in ourselves today - but to put the past into perspective.

After we've taken an inventory and grieved our losses we must forgive ourselves. In forgiving ourselves we can let go of the past and live in today.

With our program of recovery, looking back is not as frightening as it once was. And today we do not have to bear what we find alone.

A new year, a new life, can be ours. Love and friendship, support and spiritual growth are waiting for us today. Our yesterdays are over, and we can look to the future with joy and anticipation.

Today help me forgive myself for what's past and learn to have faith in Your plan for me.

It has been more than a year since I've used my blogs. I think I will try it again. Nothing profound just maybe a few pictures, quotes or my view on things.

Sometimes I like to share something that touched my heart with others. Not everyone will agree but that is why we are all so specialized.
